My first grade students will become equipped with the tools they need to believe in themselves and encourage others. The need for Growth Mindset in first grade is greater than ever with the suicide rates and bullying statistics sky rocketing in the last few years. The books I have chosen teach valuable lessons on believing in yourself, to never give up, to encourage each other, to know that every person has special talents and abilities. These are things that need to be taught and instilled in every child. We need read aloud books that will teach and encourage Growth Mindset and the power of making mistakes in order to learn and grow as well as the tools for dealing with bullying and confidence. Our titles include Beautiful Oops!, The Day the Crayons Quit, How to Catch a Star, Flight School, How Full Is Your Bucket? For Kids and many more. If you were to step into my first grade classroom, the first thing you would see is a sign that reads, "The Power of Yet!" At the drinking fountain is a sign that encourages changing your mindset from "I can't" to "I can." Hanging on my bulletin board is a super hero cape that reads, "Yet." As kids accomplish tasks that they couldn't do before but can now, they proudly wear this cape for the day. As you can see, I believe strongly in encouraging kids to believe in themselves. Reading, writing and math are all essential subjects in a first grade classroom. But before a child can access these skills, they must first have a mindset to believe in themselves and not be afraid to take risks and make mistakes. By funding this project, you will be placing literature in the hands of my first grade students that encourages them to be the best that they can be. These books are an essential tool for teaching this valuable lesson in my first grade classroom. Thank you for your donation! Together, we can build a better future for these kids!
