I teach in a school with a low socioeconomic status. More that 80% of students in the school qualifying for free/reduced lunches. My students are all unique. They are 2nd -5th students that have all been diagnosed with Autism or an Intellectual Disability. They struggle with learning academics, social skills, and independent functioning skills. They also struggle socially with having conversations and developing friendships. It is challenging for them to effectively communicate their thoughts and ideas. They have strengths and skills that are difficult for them to express.They need specialized instruction in order to learn all of these skills.
