Our school is a small charter high school with an enrollment of 130 students in grades nine through twelve. For a variety of reasons, most are kids who need a smaller school and a more close-knit community than that provided at a large campus. The art students in my ceramics classes are very enthusiastic about making something that will be a permanent part of the school and the community. When we talked about this project, with its focus on goals and dreams, I realized that, for some, this was one of the first times they had given much serious thought about what they want in the future.
