These Scholastic magazines will be used to help integrate Science and Social Studies into many of my reading lessons. During our ELA block, students will read these magazines independently and collaborate with each other in partnerships or small groups. They will practice and apply their knowledge of locating text features as well as study different text structures that can be seen in non-fiction texts compared to fiction. Finally, students will immerse themselves in a research unit studying topics of their choosing. With your help, they could use these magazines as one of their resources and better build their background knowledge!
