Third graders are at the point in education where they are becoming more and more independent. Teachers have to think of ways to extend for those that need it and remediate for others. Technology is a great way to do both. I want to add two iPads to my classroom for cross-curricular learning activities. Students are very technologically in tune; they often know more than me! Ipads allow for mobility, unlike the few computers in my room. I want my students to be able to pick up the iPad and move to their favorite spot to complete their assignment. Ipads will also help to avoid the over use of paper. Students can use the app, Seesaw, where they have their own folder to save work to. For example, students will use a white board, dry erase marker, and problem from a book/task card and solve. Once complete they can take a picture of it and save for me to check over later. Paper trails no more! Students will also be able to plug in headphones and listen to stories read and answer questions based on their listening. We have a plethora of apps related to math fact fluency and nothing is more exciting than using an iPad to help with fluency. I find students are more engaged and excited with the technology piece (and it seems to be a big part of our curriculum).
