What does a Learning Carpet do for students? Here are just a few key features: Students need different areas for different types of learning. My students have several different areas for learning but one lacking in our room is a learning carpet. This is an area for more personal learning to occur. Small groups can meet to have private time to collaborate and contribute to meaningful projects. Whole class discussion on the carpet creates a classroom community. Students needing to view the projection or reading materials at a closer level are given a soft area for visual learning. There will be at least 60 students using the rug each day between two flex reading courses and my homeroom class. It will be used to create an awesome learning space for years to come!
