My students spend a portion of their time in the classroom working in reading group rotations. I have students at varying levels that need specialized and small group instruction. While I am working with small groups, the rest of the students are working on other reading activities. One of these activities is a website called Read Theory. This site allows each student to work at his or her individual reading level. We are not a 1:1 school, so there are times that the chromebooks are not available to us. Having our own set, will eliminate this problem. I also teach Social Studies where the chromebooks can be used to research various topics. Our Standardized State Tests have moved from paper and pencil to almost entirely on the computer. Having the chromebooks in our classroom will allow us to incorporate technology into daily instruction which will better prepare each student for these tests. My students are ready and eager to learn using technology. Through your generosity you will help my students have easy access to the technology they deserve!
