Currently I am without a large carpet/rug, which I often use for read alouds and class discussions. The rug I selected doubles as a map of the world and will also be used/referenced when learning about different cultures and customs. I also selected color pencils for the class which we often use to color code writing, as well as illustrate a variety of works. I will be teaching students who struggle in a variety of areas but mostly in reading. Therefore I also selected a set of 6 "whisper phones" which allow students who struggle in reading/fluency to hear themselves read aloud without disturbing their peers. With this, I selected highlighted sentence strips of different colors that will help struggling readers to focus and follow along with fun AND function. A class set of journals are in the bundle as well. This is for morning reflection where they will have a positive/character quote each day that they will interpret and reflect on. Writing daily and focusing on good character are 2 things that will most definitely boost moral AND learning.
