The purpose of flexible seating is to provide a comfortable, homey feel and safe space for students to work in. Flexible seating allows students to work in a more natural setting, and facilitates creative thinking through creative and comfortable seating. Additionally, it helps students become invested in reading or group work by allowing students to work about the room as they would outside of school. Lego models allow students to model their thinking through hands-on activities. Lego modeling promotes students' abilities to think with their hands and put a physical model to their ideas and understandings. It also encourages all students to participate and explain their thinking through their model.
