A Long Walk to Water is a true story that my students will be able to relate to. My students don't think twice about grabbing a drink of water. This is an eye opening story that readers of all levels will enjoy. I know this will inspire them to become active in the global community. They will be creating their own projects around this story, but will have guided comprehension questions and a writing piece within this unit. Students will work collaboratively to create ways to solve this global issue of clean water. They will also develop critical thinking skills throughout the process and show empathy to the people living in this part of the world.
