We recite a reading pledge to start every morning, and in our pledge, my kids take an oath to make reading their way of feeding their brains what they need every day. I want reading every day to be a privilege and a treat for my students, not a chore. The engaging texts and additional reading tools included in this project will promote a love of reading and guide my students in their path to becoming lifelong readers and future leaders! Kids should see books as both windows into other worlds and mirrors reflecting their own experiences. The books selected in this project include a range of topics, genres, themes, and diverse characters. This will help my students grow as readers and as good people. My students work hard every day to become better readers, and they need more advanced texts to support their rapid reading growth. The higher level books in this project will keep my advanced readers engaged and fuel their interest in literature.
