The project I am asking for consist of a CD boombox with a set of 6 headphones and a storage center for them. I have a Walkman that we have tried using, but the batteries have been dying after one rotation of use. We use the listening center during literacy rotations while I meet with small groups, working with their skill abilities. Comprehension is an important element of not only reading, but of the emergent reader diet. Fluency, vocabulary, phonics, phonemic awareness and comprehension are the skills we work on in Kindergarten to support students into becoming the best readers. This project would support that skill and engage my students by being able to listen to stories and talk about the main character, setting, beginning, middle, and end.
