Flexible seating offers students the ability to choose various forms of seating/standing to work during school. This allows students to be comfortable while learning. Research has proven that this classroom model not only increases student ability to attend during instruction, but it also assists in creating a more student centered classroom. While empowering my students to choose how they are comfortable to learn, I also love the idea of building and further developing instructional frameworks that fit in this approach for my 21st century learners. The tools that I have selected will be available to all of my students and will allow the children to sit on the floor, stand, kneel, and even utilize wiggle seats/stools to maximize their learning. Since student centered learning is a key aspect of my classroom the utilization of workshop models and exploration time will be enhanced by these types of seating options.
