An easel will help me to better display instructional resources, directions, and information during Morning Meeting and Whole Group instruction. Currently, the only place I have to display materials is on my Smartboard. However, this is located on the other side of the room from my carpet where I hold Morning Meeting and some Whole Group instruction. This makes it very difficult for me to utilize the carpet area of my classroom. I am a first year teacher, and I have a limited budget to supply resources for my classroom.
With the easel, students would be able to see and interact with my instruction from multiple areas in the classroom. This will help prevent students being forced to sit in the same place all day. The easel is also a whiteboard which will give students another medium for demonstrating their learning. Finally, it will improve my literacy instruction, particularly during read-alouds, by allowing me to display resources and instruction which accompany and support the texts that I am reading.
