My multiage classroom is composed of first and second graders eager to learn and have fun in the classroom. By providing STEAM/STEM activities, we are fostering the use of student imagination to find solutions to problems and use critical thinking skills to explore, build and create in the learning environment. Having students think of themselves as "engineers" builds confidence in themselves and allows them to use other skills to be successful. Students are also learning to work collaboratively with classmates where they are learning from one another. Student engagement is high when students are proposed a task or challenge that must be met.
