This year I plan to have a focus on creating a makerspace within my class. The materials I am asking for will allow opportunities for my kindergarten students to create and explore STEAM and makerspace activities. They will foster creativity and problem solving through hands on play. We will use the Osmos to reinforce math and language activities as well as coding all on their level. I plan to create a dedicated area in our class where the students can use them during choice time. The magnetic tiles and K'nex will be used for free exploration as well as during our math unit when the students are creating 3-D shape objects. As they create different models using the K'nex and magnetic tiles, they will develop dexterity and fine motor skills as well as critical-thinking capabilities and imagination. My students will have more success learning STEM subjects through activities related to the real world and across all curriculars. I'm excited to extend hands on learning in my classroom!
