Students will build solar cars as culminating project for their unit on circuits. Key concepts students will be learning about include reading circuit diagrams; understanding resistance, current, and voltage; the engineering design cycle; power and efficiency; as well as how solar panels work and their feasibility as an alternative energy source. While students will have had hands on experience with these ideas, the cars will bring them all together in a fun and meaningful way. Thinking about where the energy we use comes from helps us to make better choices and responsibly think about resource allocation for everyone in both the present and future.

About my class
