As first graders, my students have a lot of wiggles and energy. By allowing students to move and have a variety of seating options, they will continue to stay engaged in learning. Even as adults, sitting in the same chair for long periods of time becomes uncomfortable, and we being to become fidgety - same goes for six and seven years old kiddos. I have requested wobble chairs, floor seats, wobble cushions, and balance cushions for my students to choose from and use during morning work, reading, center time, seat work, etc. We want to say GOODBYE to the chairs!
