The materials and supplies that I am requesting for my students already have a "home." In other words, I know exactly where everything will go. We just need your help in getting everything through our door! The paper, staplers, markers, scissors, rulers and other supplies of the sort will be used by the students, so that they may create books and takes note on each experiment. The chart paper will be used to create anchor charts that reflect the discussions we have during our mini-lessons. The whiteboards a be offered to students, so they may work where they are comfortable and share questions and discoveries with each other in a simple manner, avoiding paper waste. The books on this list are to add to the very small shelf that acts as a library in my classroom as they love to read about animals and fun facts, all with the goal of developing a hunger for discovery. The donations to this project will help to improve my students' understanding of and competency in authentic, meaningful writing. We will use these materials to aide us in the process of becoming critical thinking scientists life-long lovers of learning. in this my second year of teaching I have a clearer understanding of what works for my students who have a wide range of learning needs and capacities. The phrase "it takes a village" doesn't only apply to parenting a child, it also applies to educating children. With your support to this project, you secure a place as a part of my village!
