Young students learn best through hands-on experiences. This is even more true for young students with disabilities. Each of the activities will be used in small group instruction to help students gain knowledge about literacy concepts and build upon their background knowledge. Students will have the opportunity to work together and complete activities targeted at their literacy needs which will not only help them learn to be better readers but will also allow them to participate in social interactions that they have missed out on due to COVID-19. The resources are durable and will not only be used with my current case-load but will be available for students for many years to come. Students will use phonological awareness folders to increase their knowledge of sounds in language. The alphabet mystery box, alphabet learning locks, and magnetic alphabet maze will be used for students working on mastery of letter and sound recognition. The touch and read phonics word match, word family flip books, building words instant center, sound switch instant center, fill in the blank phonics stamps and snap and build CVC words will be used to help students learn how to read decodable words. The Touch and Read CVC sentence match and the building fluency word back will be used to help students build fluency in their reading.
