In a small rural city with not so much as a city park to stay occupied in. My young leaders need a way to occupy time productively and gain a skill that can give them a future educational opportunity to better themselves, and bring some pride back to this small community that has found itself stuck. The once thriving town was centered in pride of its music and band. When businesses left and money became scarce the band started leaving with it because music can have a cost. I went back to college specifically to assist a small town, MY small town in rebuilding that spark. We have started growing and the town is getting excited but we do not have the instruments to give everyone that dream. These instruments purchased would allow us to provide a workable instrument in each young leaders hand that did not have the means to purchase or rent immediately. These instruments will allow music to enter a young life that may have heard a "not this year" without the instruments we are asking for. These instruments will teach skills that give a payback at the end larger then the cost of the instrument itself. College funding, study and practice skills, self-discipline, and confidence in a world that tends to provide not one of these. These young leaders need to go to college and come back and keep this town alive. I never want a student of music to be in this great city because they have to, but because they choose to. Education gives options, music gives education, these instruments will give music....we are giving options now! Help me break cycles!
