I taught seventh grade science for the first time last year and it was fantastic to see students so enthusiastic about science projects. I try to incorporate STEM, which stands for science, technology, engineering, and math. Students had to research on the different forms of truss, design, draw, calculate, plan, execute on their projects, and meet deadlines. They had to coordinate on which members of their team will take the project home and work on it for certain days of the week. From these projects, students learn the most important lesson asides from science, technology, engineering, and math, and that is learning to work with others to complete common goals regardless of their differences in personalities, genders, and backgrounds. Out of these projects, students understand that it applies to life after junior high, high school, and college.
