My 2 math classes are divided into 6 -5 groups, each named after a color. These color coded caddies and trays will make it possible to give my students all the supplies and math manipulatives ( linking blocks, ten blocks) they need for solving two and three digit addition and subtraction problems.
The magnetic base ten blocks will allow my students to see visually how place value and regrouping works .
Since students are in groups partitions will help students focus during module tests and quizzes.
The timer will help students manage time and will gives them both audio and visual support so that know when are ready to move on to the next group and or math task.
The magnetic folders will help organize homework and classwork assignments .
The work bins will also help organize student work .This will foster efficient grading and provide feedback for my students. Organization is essential for students to be successful. These organizational items will help my students get quick feedback.
My students need notebooks so that they can actively reflect on the math strategies they have learned . Students that reflect on their thinking grow!
