Storworks and Storyworks Junior are amazing magazines written by Scholastic that cover Colorado Reading and Writing State Standards. These magazines include both fiction and non-fiction passages that engage all readers. I have seen first hand how great these magazines are at improving students reading skills and would like to bring these magazines to the 5th graders at my school. By having Storyworks and Storyworks Junior magazines, my teammate and I will be able to provide our students with authentic reading and writing opportunities. Through reading a short passage then answering questions and writing about it, they are building lifelong skills that will allow them to be high achievers throughout their school career. We mentioned the possibility of receiving these magazines from donors and they were so excited! This donation will allow us to work on various skills using a shared passage - something we haven't been able to do due to lack of resources.
