Although my students' ages vary, they are all working on reading growth and foundational skills such as, phonics, sight words and comprehension. It is essential that students are provided with various ways to practice reading skills because of their diverse learning styles. The CVC word cards, blocks, tactile tracing letters, spelling puzzles, magnetic letters and sight word games will all be used during centers for my students to practice their foundational skills. The reading tools will help my students reach their goals by providing them with a variety of ways to engage, access and practice phonics, sight words and spelling. Other classroom supplies, like the pencil sharpener, primary pencils and storage containers, will allow our classroom to be functional and accessible. The wobble chairs, exercise balls, string lights, and diffuser will aid in creating a soothing and sensory environment for my students. These accommodations will maximize learning opportunities for my students; if a child does not feel calm in their classroom it is even more challenging for them to learn. As students on Individual Education Plans, it is imperative for their environment to be soothing and non-restrictive.
