The students in my classroom range from first grade through eighth grade. My students are all general education students with learning disabilities in reading and math. I see students daily and help them with their reading or math skills in order to help them access the general education curriculum. Many of my students love to read, but read well below their grade level. Instead of choosing what they call "a baby book" they forego reading entirely. I find this very sad, reading is one of the great joys in my life and I would love to share that love of reading with my students. In order to help facilitate this, I am hoping to create a Hi/Lo library filled with high-interest books that students want to read, and that they and their peers will not find "baby-ish" but are at their reading level. If reading is fun, interesting and at their ability level, they will spend more time reading.
