My students read an excerpt from "The Uglies" by Scott Westerfield. It was intriguing and my students wanted more. However we only had the small excerpt that was provided to us. After doing some research I found that it is a part of a set a books. I told my students I would like to start a book club so we could read all four books together. They are so exited about getting their hands on the actual books. If you choose to fund this project my students will have access to a challenging text that we will dissect together. They will learn how to how engage in scholarly discussions. This will also bring some fun to education. It's hard to find rigorous yet entertaining books. This is a opportunity to how my scholars how fun learning can be.
