My school qualifies as Title I, but the money in our area is funneled to the elementary schools. As a result, we have all the challenges of a Title I school but none of the help we need. Besides being economically challenged, our school has a 45% ethnic minority demographic. Many of our students lack structure and support at home, and their school helps provide that for them. I firmly believe that if students have worthwhile educational experiences, they will develop the skills and confidence to be successful outside of school as well.
