The students in my classroom require a great deal of support to cope with the demands of the school day. I use both individual and class wide behavior plans based on their needs. This year as 8th graders, my students will be preparing for high school and will be working on a "maturity scale". Each day their behavior will be "checked" both individually and as a whole group using a behavior thermometer. At each level, the students will receive an incentive for their hard work. The first level (20 points required), students will receive candy bars and a snack of their choice. Over the last 10 years of teaching, I've noticed that food is the best motivator! I am looking forward to watching my students meet their behavior goals!
