I just finished college with my Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education. Being a very first year, brand new, rookie teacher I am a little nervous. I don't have any supplies and when I am looking at my room I notice it is extremely sparse. For my students to be able to soar through second grade, they need supplies to give them their wings, and the chance to have the best learning environment possible. This is why I have chosen a reading rug for them to feel comfortable while doing the Daily 5 or any other reading centers I will have them do. I chose the attendance chart because it will add a fun interactive component to the classroom that they will love, and it will be a quick way to assess who is absent. I know that my first year teaching will be difficult, but I will never let my students know that I am nervous. I know that I will feel more confident if I have the supplies needed to make my classroom warm and welcoming to my wonderful students.
