As students complete their independent work they are directed to attend assigned learning stations. A common one that they attend is a listening center. Listening centers help engage students into a good book and to also help build fluency as they follow along with what is being read. Students get excited about going to learning stations and going to the listening center is by far a favorite. As students are listening to the book being read to them they are following along with their finger or maybe even just their eyes to help build fluency and common reading skills. Children LOVE listening centers, there is nothing like relaxing and getting to listen to a good book!
