I am a Kindergarten teacher in a Dual Immersion School. We are a fairly new school and will be entering our 5th school year. In our program, about 50% of the students are native Spanish speakers, and the other 50% are English speakers. Most classrooms have a fairly good split of each group, allowing the children to learn both languages. Cesar Chavez Language Academy is located in Santa Rosa, California, with a 25% Hispanic population and many of my students live in the area. My kindergarten students are 5 and 6 years old. They are fun loving and enjoy being engaged in their learning. It makes me so proud when I see students having fun and learning. My classroom is supplied with basic school materials but I am always seeking new ways to add to our classroom centers as needed to make activities fun and purposeful. My goal is to keep the fun and "play" in Kindergarten!
