By providing students with some basic supplies it eases some of the stress that comes with starting a new school year. It's amazing what a new pencil can do to inspire a child! With these materials my students will be able to engage fully in the math class. They will not just be working with numbers, but being able to reason and explain their thinking. By incorporating books into math class my hope is to excite them about reading and challenge their mathematical thinking. With the books and place value charts, the students will be forced to reconsider how they think about numbers and explain what they are thinking. I hope to grow their minds exponentially this year!
