All my students are coming in without knowing how to read and many of them may not have access to a broad range of books to explore. I would love to have a variety of English and Spanish books that are in their reading level to help them feel successful as they learn to read. Learning to read is a challenge but learning to read in two languages is a bigger challenge, therefore my students need access to different reading material to learn to read in both languages. They need audiobooks and paperback books to explore and dive into a good story they can comprehend and practice reading. I plan to have the audiobooks be a center where students can listen to books being read to them as they follow along and look at their sight words and new words in the book. I would love to have the leveled books be in my library shelves marked up so at the beginning of the year all students have access to their own leveled book. As they progress they can challenge themselves reading higher leveled books from the library shelves.
