For English Language Learners (ESL) learning and communication is not easy. It is a process in which students learn skills such as vocabulary, phonics, grammar, and writing. The first and often longest phase is "the silent period," when the student takes in the new language but does not speak it. This period lasts weeks to months, depending on the individual. Ipads will allow our class to use apps that will help English Language Learners to communicate with others, focus on individual needs to acquire English, and allow my other students to use apps for remediation and enrichment for their own academic needs.
