There are days that some of my students struggle just to get to school, so once they get here, they should have some level of flexibility and comfort so that they can be successful. The items in this project will help facilitate that comfort. Florescent lighting and hard student chairs can both make for a rough day-for this reason light filters and flexible seating options are highlights of my project. The light filters will tone down the harshness of the florescent lighting allowing for a more relaxed feel to the classroom. The flexible seating (wobble chairs) will allow students more options as to how they work, read and play best-in other words, help them learn about themselves. My school is a huge advocate of small group and individualized learning. The dry erase table will be instrumental in that since the students will be able to gather and write right on the table. Also instrumental in individualized learning is the printer because it will allow things such as word lists and math sheets to be printed (and therefore utilized) immediately. This allows for better use of classroom time since we won’t have to wait for a convenient time to go to the workroom to grab the papers.
