In kindergarten, children are asked to learn quite a lot of academics, and they do not have many opportunities to explore their creativity. It has been shown that when children are allowed to explore different art mediums, and explore their creativity, that it helps children to learn to think outside of the box. When children think outside the box, they learn how to problem solve, and to do so with confidence. Kindergarten children also need many opportunities to be able to express themselves, whether it be their hopes and dreams, or their emotions. My students will be introduced at a young age to many different mediums, such as colored pencils, oil pastels, and watercolors, and will get o explore self-expression. We will learn about different artists and recreate their technique. We will learn how to express our hopes, dreams, and feelings. We will also learn different design and art elements, and how to use the different mediums to make a wonderful composition. My students will gain a lifelong skill of self-expression and self-regulation, through their exploration of these art mediums. I say if you are going to do something, do it right! Why limit children to crayons we are trying to teach them the sky is the limit!!
