Our fourth grade classroom is a place where students come to know that they are loved and valued. We work hard and play hard. My students thrive on working collaboratively with their peers, but right now, we do that in traditional seating - chairs and desks. I'm working to provide flexible seating options which will allow students to choose a space where they can do their best work. My goal is for students in my classroom to have the options to chose to sit during math, stand during science and lay on the floor during reading. A flexible seating environment gives them the option to figure out what works best for them. It gives students a choice in learning. It builds a lifelong foundation of collaborating more effectively with others and essential skills for life beyond the classroom. This environment will continue to help our students become 21st Century learners and thinkers.
