LED light tablets and light tablet accessories would be a great addition to my Pre-K classroom. The students will have an opportunity to learn about light and colors but also learn many other concepts as light tablets are truly an open-ended learning tool. My students will be able to use translucent blocks and magnet tiles to build their own creations. Students also will have an opportunity to learn numbers, letters, and words in an interesting way by using translucent numbers and letters on the light tablet. Students will also learn about animals by exploring with x-rays on the light tablet.
As an educator, I personally have seen light tables/light tablets used in an upper middle class private school and in a children's museum but they were missing from my state funded public Pre-K classroom. I feel that part of my job as an educator is to introduce concepts using unique learning tools that students may never have the opportunity to see otherwise. Over 80 percent of the students at my school qualify for free or reduced lunch and most of my young students most likely have never visited a children's museum or ever used a light table or light tablet to learn new ideas and express their creativity. These students will benefit from the opportunity to create and learn on light tablets in the classroom.
