The materials chosen include basic supplies my students will use on an everyday basis. My students need paper, pencils, and folders to complete daily assignments. Currently, all of the supplies in my classroom are provided by me, personally. I would like to do more for them as they are determined and passionate about learning. This project will make a difference to my students as many of them do not start the year with any supplies to call their own.
The materials in this project will give every child access to engaging, hands-on math materials that will promote learning amongst all students. The math board games and power pen quiz games will work great with small group remediation skills. The centers will challenge students to work with one another in solving mathematical equations. As many students read below grade level, I would like to integrate the math start stories into my lessons as a way to encourage students to read in math as well. These materials promote cooperative learning and critical thinking that each student needs to be successful. This grant will continue to benefit every student in my class throughout the school year.
