Having these materials in the classroom will not only facilitate teaching but it will maximize student learning. This being my second year teaching, I'm still looking for resources that will help my students achieve their full potential. I chose books for the first weeks of school because last year it was pretty hard to find good books that had a good connection that students were able to understand. This year I want to start fresh so that I can provide a positive learning environment to my students. My classroom also lacked enough dry erase boards for all my students. I ended up buying the dollar ones from the dollar store but those only lasted a few weeks so I wanted to provide my kids with something more durable that they will enjoy while learning to spell out words and writing sentences. We also used these during centers for math stations and art. My class is always in need of glue. Last year we ran out and students were constantly fighting over the glue. I want them to focus on their learning and not have to worry about anything else. Construction paper and paint is always needed in a kindergarten class. My students do a lot of craft activities to create a deeper connection to what is being taught. I love to do hands on activities with my students and they love to learn while having fun. Lastly, the chair pockets will help students maximize learning time without them having to get up constantly from their chair to find materials. If my project is funded, my students will have the opportunity to be in the best classroom they can be.
