Have you ever tried to sit in a plastic chair for an entire day? As adults we don't like doing it, but we ask students to do it every day. Many students in our class have a hard time sitting still or are uncomfortable in old plastic classroom chairs. Our class would like to begin creating a 21st century learning space that considers learning style and special needs of all students. Our classroom needs better options for student seating so that every child can find their place where they can be productive and comfortable. We would like to have places to sit on the floor and do work, where we can sit together to read, or a great place to collaborate. Big, soft floor pillows will help those kids who feel fidgety or uncomfortable in their seat. Stools and small tables will allow us to create flexible seating to collaborate in groups. And a inflatable couch with offer more emerging readers a place to read quietly and independently. Being able to move around the room gives us choice and independence in our learning and makes us better students!
