My students love to read the books in our leveled library. The beanbag chairs and weighted sensory blankets would create a cozy spot in which my students could read books on their independent reading level. These items will help my students to focus and accommodate some of their many different needs concerning communication, behavior, and sensory. Sensory processing disorder can be especially challenging for young kids, who don't always have the emotional maturity to verbalize how they're feeling. The weighted blankets and bean bag flex chairs can produce a “calming effect” in kids while reading a good book! With this reading area, I am hoping to encourage a life long love of reading without worrying about anxiety or meltdowns.
