Within my speech and language therapy classroom(s), you will find a group of students who require various levels of academic support. To put it simply, most of my students don't see the world the same way that you and I do (and no, it's not because most are in middle school). They may have a language impairment, cognitive impairment, learning disability, speech impairment or Autism, and because of their unique differences, no two days are ever the same. At any given moment my well-thought out, "genius" therapy plan may be thrown out the window because one student with Autism is caught up on the fact that he didn't hear his favorite song on the way to school that morning. Working with special needs students isn't always easy, but it is fun and rewarding! My hope is that through your support that we may be able to make at least one of my student's day's easier by giving them the tools they need to be successful.
