This school year we will focus on growth mindset in our classroom. We will internalize the idea that all students are capable of learning, and we will grow our intelligence through hard work! Research shows that only 25% of achievement is attributed to innate ability, and 75% is attributed to psychosocial skills such as resilience and critical thinking. Growth mindset focuses on developing those skills. Critical thinking games allow students to learn from their mistakes, practice, and persevere in a fun risk-free environment. Students can apply the concepts of growth mindset to their learning with critical thinking games. They can identify that through their struggle and practice, the games becomes easier. Students are motivated to keep working and experience success. These experiences with critical thinking games, translate into students' academic experiences. They can apply the same concepts about brain growth and perseverance to their work in the rigorous language arts curriculum. Please help my students internalize the idea that, with hard work, everyone is capable of great success!
