My students rock! They come to the 6th grade excited, eager and apprehensive as they enter the world of middle school. My students struggle with reading and some are reluctant to persevere. Many of them are English Language Learners and many have an Individual Education Plan. Some of my students try very hard, while others are frustrated and give up easily. Many students in my classroom do not have the resources or supplies needed for school. In our classroom we consistently teach the value of determination, hard work and having a growth mindset. We do our best to motivate these youth to keep trying and believe in themselves. We have a Wall of Fame where students earn rewards for reaching certain milestones in the reading program. Many of my students are very motivated to see how far they can go towards their goals as we celebrate their success.
