I teach in a Title One school where over 75 percent of the student population receives free/reduced lunch. Our city has seen an increase in lower socioeconomic status families, and our school has felt the change within the student population itself. I would like to try to close the gap between lower socioeconomic status students and their counterparts. All children should have the same experiences in school, no matter their family financial status.
