Since all my students have IEPs and vary in strengths and weakness, they also vary greatly in the supports they need in the classroom. After sitting in desks for the majority of the day, many of my students need to have the option of flexible seating. Flexible seating will give students a chance to move around and studies have shown that students are more productive when given the freedom to work in a space that is most comfortable. Flexible seating in my classroom will allow my students to choose the location and position, in which they work best. Students will have a choice of seats ranging from yoga balls, canvas chairs, rolling chairs or standard chairs. In addition, students will have a choice on location to work in the room whether it be in the front by the board, at a table by the window or on the floor. Flexible seating will give students a chance to figure out what works best for them in order to be successful in the classroom.
