As adults, we have had the opportunity to sit through a lecture or business meeting. I have a few tricks in employ to stay, not only attentive, but awake. Yes, I have been nudged a time or two to wake up during meetings back in the years when I worked for a huge financial institution prior to becoming a teacher. I learned to have gum or candy and if I would forget I would punch myself. I am an adult, because I wasn't in school, I could chew gum or suck on candy without being told on. Children are natural wigglers because they need to move! Yet, classrooms across the countries except students to sit still in hard plastic chairs. Well, not this year in my classroom. We will have choices and we will move! The flexible seating options I have chosen will provide a variety of options to help students stay alert and excited about this great new adventure they will travel for years to come.
