Can you sit in a chair all day long without moving? Neither can children. My first graders need to be able to stand, kneel, bounce, or even lie down throughout the day. Brain research confirms physical activity enhances the learning process. I saw first hand last year how flexible seating can benefit students. I had a student who struggled to focus during our carpet time all year. When I allowed the student to sit on a yoga/bouncy ball, they were fully engaged. The student raised their hand to answer EVERY question. It was an eye opening experience. I was only able to purchase a few items last year. My students need stools, balance balls, stability discs, and pillows. I would love to be able to give this opportunity to EVERY child!
